Yidi Liu, D.D.S., M.S.D.

Dr. Yidi (pronounced like ‘Edy,’ the ice cream) believes that every patient possesses a unique smile and should receive customized orthodontic care to allow the natural beauty of their smiles to blossom.

Dr. Yidi is a board-certified orthodontist, recognized by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) — a voluntary credential that reflects her commitment to excellence, high standards of specialty care, and lifelong learning. She is proud to be the only board-certified orthodontists in West Lafayette, serving the Greater Lafayette area and beyond.

Dr. Yidi’s journey in dentistry began at Peking University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Dentistry. After moving to California with her family, she pursued her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. She then completed specialized orthodontic training and earned her Master of Science in Dentistry (Orthodontics) from the University of the Pacific. There, she received extensive training in both traditional braces and clear aligner therapy, including advanced Invisalign techniques. Studying at the very institution where Invisalign was first developed, she trained under some of North America’s most experienced orthodontists, gaining expertise in treating complex cases with both braces and Invisalign.

Coming from a family of engineers—both of Dr. Yidi’s parents are engineers, as is her husband, Haitong, a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University—she proudly calls herself a “Smile Engineer.” Outside of work, Dr. Yidi enjoys exploring new ideas, places, food, and life projects with Haitong.
